The Dhahan Prize for Punjabi Literature
Canada India Education Society is a founding partner of the Dhahan Prize, and currently oversees administration of the Prize. The Dhahan Prize celebrates the rich culture and transnational heritage of Punjabi literature and language, and aims to promote the growth of Punjabi language globally. The Prize encourages new writing by awarding $25,000 CDN annually to one “best book of fiction” published in either of the two Punjabi scripts, Gurmukhi or Shahmukhi. Two second prizes of $10,000 CDN each are also awarded, with the provision that both scripts are represented among the three winners. Learn more about the Dhahan Prize here.
