Canada India Education Society, in partnership with the Dhahan village council (gram panhayat), recently launched an infrastructure improvement project valued at nearly $300,000. The project includes waste water treatment amongst other improvements. The Punjab government is to provide 75 % of the funds as part of a NRI matching grant program. The balance of 25% of the funds will come from Canadians who have origins in Dhahan and from local residents of the village. His Excellency Scot Slessor, Consul General of Canada, toured the village on February 14, 2013 and participated in the announcement of the project.
