Look Forward To New Projects In 2011 + 2012
CIES is exploring new project ideas for the near future. We visited India earlier this year with three objectives in mind:
- To understand current issues and opportunities from the perspectives of universities, government, NGOs and research institutes;
- To identify areas of mutual interest with a view to developing projects and collaborative relationships that will achieve results in rural economic development, health and education; and
- To identify next steps required to launch new partnerships.
Members of our delegation retuned from India with renewed enthusiasm for embarking on long-term projects in the areas of rural development and in nursing education and leadership. Our meetings with people from different sectors contributed to our understanding of current issues - we also appreciated their encouragement and expressions of interest in future partnerships. Social development is a term we heard frequently in our discussions with potential partners. There is interest in social investment and working for transformation through public-private initiatives that involve many partners and networks.
