I am delighted to have been asked to participate in the official delegation for the Governor General of Canada’s state visit to India. I will be joining the Right Honourable David Johnston and Mrs. Sharon Johnston from February 22 to March 2, 2014. The visit will highlight Canada’s engagement in India and will focus on three main areas: entrepreneurship, education and innovation, with a special focus on the contributions of women and girls. These focus areas are closely linked to the issues that have been of great importance to me for both countries.
CIES has been committed to developing strategic partnerships in India for over 20 years in the areas of health, education and rural development. This visit supplements the work in my role as one of the directors of IC-IMPACTS, and as one of the founding donors and directors of Carleton’s Canada-India Centre which bring together Canadian and Indian education institutions, community, industry and government partners. I look forward to this wonderful opportunity to help forge closer ties between Canada and India for mutual prosperity.
